Recipe – Chilli Con Carne

Posted ago by Lee

Thought we’d share a recipe we enjoyed tonight. It’s pretty healthy, full of the right stuff and tastes awesome!!!

Again, don’t forget to be creative with it and add whatever else you’d like. You could add Sweet Potato or a bit of rice to make it an ideal post-workout meal.

This meal will serve 6-10 dishes and is ideal to freeze and enjoy a few days later

Ingredients

1kg lean beef mince

2 brown onions, chopped

2 teaspoon of chilli flakes (or as desired)

2 packets of Taco Seasoning (reduced salt)

1 800g of Diced Tomatoes

2 (400g) tin of Kidney Beans

2 cups of mushrooms, sliced

2 carrots, sliced

1 zucchini, sliced

2 (325g) jars of  Taco Sauce (can use salsa)

Baby Spinach leaves, to serve

Canola Oil Spray

How to cook it

Spray ‘large’ fry pan with oil and heat on medium heat. Add mince, onions, chilli flakes and 1 packet of seasoning. Cook until mince is browned.

Add the carrots, zucchini, diced tomatoes, kidney beans (with juice), mushrooms and stir.

Pour taco sauce over the top and add half of other packet of seasoning, discard the rest.

Stir then cover and cook for 5-10 minutes until desired thickness.

Add some pepper to season if you’d like. Place on bed of Baby Spinach and enjoy!

Be  creative! Add anything you’d like from our food guide.

As stated earlier, this can be enjoyed AS IS or add some carbohydrates like Sweet Potato, rice, or even “some” Taco shells to make it a great POST workout meal.

I look forward to some feedback!

Welcome to 2012

Posted ago by Lee

Bootcamp Geelong sincerely hopes you had a wonderful 2011 and that you are as excited as us about the year ahead.

Every year about this time there are literally millions of people across our country who are doing their best to stick to a ‘New Years Resolution’. These range from weight loss, quitting smoking, quitting alcohol, quitting chocolate or worse…fad/crash dieting. Everyone who starts out the year with a new years resolution does so with the best intentions and in a lot of cases they start out with the right tools and information too yet 80% of those people will give up and/or not stick to their plan.
This has a lot to do with building habits rather than knowledge.

For instance, did you know that a pack of chocolate biscuits is packed full of calories? Did you know that eating 1 liter of ice cream with chocolate topping is probably going to make you fat and/or sick? Of course you do! Everyone does. In most of us it’s not our lack of knowledge that prevents us from hitting those goals we set. It’s the failure to set up proper habits in and around our lifestyle which will prevent us from getting there.

It’s no surprise given that 24% of adult Australians are obese and 37% are overweight that what we are currently doing is not working. Did you know that the statistics in Geelong are even worse? We have 51% of our population overweight or obese! Yet there are more weight loss pills, diets, hypnotherapists, fat free foods, sugar free drinks and medical knowledge now than there has ever been and what’s worse is that there are even more Personal Trainers in Geelong now than ever before… I hate to repeat myself but what we have been doing clearly is not working!

The thing missing from our region isn’t fitness coaching, gyms, personal training or lack of healthy food. It’s a failure to realize the advantage we have over everyone else. There is help at every turn in Geelong. We have some amazing and gifted trainers, some great world class gyms and mentors. We have awesome fun runs, adventure races, family fitness events and what’s most, a beautiful, free backdrop in which to experience it all. We can change all things for the better in a few small steps.

But the news isn’t all bad, there is something we can do and it’s not too late! Starting today, actually right now, we need to look at our lives and select one thing (this is important, only “one”) that we would like to change in the near future. Write it down. Say it aloud. Close your eyes and say it again.

Now, what is 1 thing you can do right now to be 1 step closer to achieving it. Starting right now, change that one thing. Do it every day/week/month. Whatever is necessary. Forever. If you can’t maintain it forever it was the wrong choice… it should become part of your lifestyle. Keep a record of it (on a calendar so you can look at it again next year). Write it down and tick it off every day for the next 3 weeks (21 days to change a habit remember?)In 3 weeks, I want you to repeat the process but replace that one thing with another thing. Continue this for as long as it takes. But don’t do too much too soon. One at a time…

Within a year you will have changed 17 things in your life and made them habit. 1 year and you’ll have created 17 new habits in helping you realize your goals, every day.
Now let’s fast forward… Think about that goal again. If you were to change 17 things in your life would that goal become realized? I’d say so, I’d almost guarantee it. Remember  “change your thoughts and you’ll change your world”. No one is going to do it for you.

What is Bootcamp?

Posted ago by admin

Hi guys, we thought we’d begin our weekly blogging by answering the most clicked on question on our old site.

“What is Bootcamp?”

We at Bootcamp Geelong do things a little differently to most so let me give you an insider’s guide as to what you can expect by participating in our Bootcamps. The first thing you need to know is that we are different. We are one of Australia’s and definitely Geelong’s largest and most successful outdoor bootcamp for 1 reason. We are the best at what we do.I’m not saying that without any proof either. We have years and years of results to prove it and literally thousands of kilos of fat melted away, many happy marriages and friendships formed and an army of followers.

I too, was one of these followers and still am. I was a participant in these very same bootcamps years ago and as a result my life is completely changed for the better, having lost 30kgs now (of fat) and being fitter and healthier than I’ve ever been. The reason I tell you this is to inform you that I’m not going on second hand information. I know it works because I’m living proof. Every day I am grateful for having found Bootcamp Geelong and as the owner, I now want to share this with all whom we encounter!

Secondly, our bootcamps are not army based. We don’t have drill sergeants. Nobody is going to yell at you or kick you while doing pushups or call you names. We don’t wear khakis and we won’t be waking you up at 3am. Sure we do flip tyres, run a bit, drag ropes, crawl in sand, etc but we don’t make you do things you cant or don’t want to do. Its about you and what you can do. Everyone leaves the 5 weeks being able to do that bit more than when they began. We pride ourselves on our 100% success rate.

Thirdly and one of the most important things about our camps is that we are the only bootcamp where you always exercise with people at your level. We group people after the very first day into a group of similar fitness so you can perform at ‘your’ best for the next 5 weeks. Our camps entail outdoor group fitness in a fun and social environment.  The locations are forever changing throughout the Geelong region. They run for 5 weeks and in those weeks you will meet some amazing people and often make lifelong friends. Its another reason we are so fortunate…

The people in and around our camp are the most inspiring and awesome bunch of people I have ever encountered. Our trainers are hand picked from a region of great personal trainers, with literally thousands of trainers to choose from. I’d consider them the best at what they do and our campers all agree. Our bootcampers inspire me every day. Just this very camp and only in 5 weeks, we had a couple that lost 17kg of fat between them and are still smashing every goal we and they have set for themselves to date.

We have had literally thousands of campers (our largest camp being 169) partake in the last 31 camps we have run and many more amazing numbers we could share. The sessions run for 1 hr, 3 times per week in which you spend each session within your group and with your particular trainer. Each Saturday session we run is usually at a beach and we go for breakfast or a coffee as a group afterwards as we really like to encourage the social side of our camps.

At the very beginning of the camp we have an information session where you learn about what to expect in more detail and get a chance to meet the gang, along with some nutritional info and some storytellin. Oh, that reminds me… Before the camp actually begins we load you up with our Bootcamp Geelong nutritional guide and its super easy to follow and guaranteed to get results. We also provide you with a whole booklet of information to get you started. AND… We have a breakup party at the end where we give away prizes, awards and recognition as well have a really rockin’ time!

That’s enough for now. If you’d like more information give us a call or contact us through our contact us tab. The best way though to get a feel for what its really like is to experience it for yourself. You wont be disappointed. Don’t forget registrations are open for the next camp beginning January 31st 2012 and we have already taken quite a few registrations for it so it’s sure to be a biggie.

Until next week, take care of yourself and those you love.

Saturday Sessions!

Posted ago by admin

We will be holding Outdoor classes every Saturday at 7am, between Bootcamps.

All fitness levels will be accommodated and will cost $15 per session.

This can be paid cash on the day you attend or if you’d like, or you’re able to get a discount on multiple session passes (covering each Saturday until our next camp  @ 7 for $90 (1 for free). The locations for these sessions will remain Eastern Beach in Geelong until further notice. We will cycle trainers for these sessions giving you a chance to experience many different types of trainers and styles. You are welcome to bring friend or family along to the sessions as these are not limited to bootcampers only.

See you Saturday!
